SBI Cashback Credit Card Review

If you like retail therapy or pay most of your bills online, then the SBI Cashback credit card is made for you. From ordering food and booking flights to grabbing the latest fashion deals, this card ensures that you get cashback on almost everything you buy without the hassle of redeeming reward points.

The 5% cashback on online spending is definitely the highlight, making it a solid choice for those who prefer swiping digitally over spending cash. On top of that, the 1% cashback on offline spending ensures that even your grocery runs and cafe visits don't go completely unrewarded.

But like everything in life, this card comes with a few conditions. The ₹5,000 monthly cashback cap means that if you're someone who splurges heavily online, you'll hit the limit pretty quickly. And while it covers most online expenses, some transactions, like fuel purchases, rent payments, wallet reloads, and utility bills, won't earn you any cashback. So, if you were hoping to get rewarded for paying your electricity bill or refuelling your car, this might not be the card for you.

That being said, if most of your expenses are online, this card is a practical addition to your wallet.

Who should get an SBI Cashback Credit Card?

The SBI Cashback credit card is great for those who want to get a "discount" on their every expense. Here's who should consider getting it:

  • Beginners looking for a straightforward cashback card with no complicated rewards system
  • Frequent online shoppers who want to earn 5% cashback on all online purchases
  • Those who make regular offline purchases and want to earn 1% cashback
  • Individuals seeking fuel savings, with a 1% surcharge waiver at petrol pumps
  • People who want to enjoy premium credit card benefits at low cost

The SBI Cashback credit card keeps things simple: spend money, get cashback. No need to chase points or worry about complicated reward point redemptions. But if you're looking for an all-rounder card that comes with airport lounge access, travel perks, or a welcome bonus, this card isn't "the one" for you. Plus, with caps on cashback and exclusions on key spending categories like fuel and rent, it might not be very rewarding for everyone. However, if you love to shop or if your spending is mostly online, it's a good option.
