Who should get an Indian Oil HDFC Bank Credit Card?

Individuals who have higher fuel requirements for their vehicles should opt for Indian Oil HDFC Bank Credit Card. The card offers reward points on fuel as well as on grocery spending, which can be redeemed in cash as well as for fuel at IndianOil pumps. When used for refuelling, 1 fuel point is equivalent to ₹0.96, while the value for the same is ₹0.20 paise if the user redeems them through net banking towards catalogue products. The users have the benefit of converting their purchases into EMIs. However, the EMI option is not available for gold and jewelry-linked transactions.  

Reward Points

The users have the option to redeem fuel points for free fuel using the complimentary IndianOil XTRAREWARDSTM Program (IXRP) membership, where 1 Fuel Point is equivalent to ₹ 0.96.

Fuel points can also be redeemed through net banking towards catalogue products and as cashback at 1 FP = up to ₹0.20.

  • The fuel points are valid for a period of 2 years. 

  • Redemption of Reward Points to Cashback and Travel categories will be capped at 50,000 points per month per customer.

  • Accrual of Reward Points on Grocery spending will be capped at 1000 points per month per customer.

1. HDFC Bank Introduces Changes to Credit Card Rules Effective August 1

Summary of HDFC Bank's New Credit Card Rules Effective from August 1, 2024

HDFC Bank is introducing new rules and charges for its credit card customers starting August 1, 2024:

  • Rental Transactions: A 1% fee, capped at Rs 3,000 per transaction, will be applied when paying rent through platforms such as CRED, PayTM, Cheq, MobiKwik, Freecharge, etc.

  • Fuel Transactions:

    • Consumer Cards: No extra fees for transactions below Rs. 15,000. A 1% fee, capped at Rs 3,000, for transactions above Rs 15,000.
    • Business Cards: No additional fee for transactions below Rs. 30,000. A 1% fee, capped at Rs 3,000, for spending over Rs 30,000 per transaction.
  • International/Cross Currency Transactions: A 3.5% markup fee will be levied. The markup fee remains at 2% for premium cards such as Infinia, Diners Black, etc., and 2.5% for 6E Rewards Indigo XL.

  • Late Payment Fees have been revised as follows:

    • Rs 0 for outstanding < = Rs 100
    • Incremental fees ranging from Rs 100 to Rs 1,300 for outstanding amounts of Rs 101 to over Rs 50,000.
  • Rewards Redemption towards Statement Credit: A Rs 50 redemption fee applies, not applicable to premium cards like Infinia, Diners Black, etc.

  • Finance Charges: A finance charge of 3.75% per month is applicable if the full amount isn't paid, relevant to all transactions. For premium cards, the finance charge is 1.99% per month.

  • Easy-EMI Processing Fee: A charge of up to Rs 299 for availing the Easy-EMI option at any store.

All fees are subject to GST, and the merchant category codes are defined by the network (Visa, Mastercard, etc.), not HDFC Bank. Charges described do not apply to Pixel Credit cards, with only the Rental Transaction Charge applicable to Commercial Credit Cards.

Fuel surcharge waiver on HDFC Indian Oil Credit Card:-

Waiving the convenience fee of 1% on all fuel purchases. Convenience fees are only waived for petrol purchases between Rs. 400 and Rs. 5,000. (A maximum of Rs. 500 may be waived per statement cycle.)

The fuel fee is 2.5% to 1% of the gasoline transaction amount. Depending on the fuel station and their acquiring bank, the rate of the surcharge may change. GST is also applicable.

The card holder gets 1 Fuel Point for every Rs. 150 spent on the card for other purchase, and gets 5% of their spending in Fuel Points on grocery and bill payments.

Exclusive to IndianOil HDFC Bank Credit Cards owners, Fuel Point is a rewards metric system. Earn accelerated 5% Fuel Points on purchases at IndianOil outlets, groceries, and bill payments when using the IndianOil HDFC Bank Credit Card to make retail purchases. The accelerated 5% fuel point benefit is only available for fuel purchases at IndianOil retail locations. Fuel transactions at all other Fuel Outlets will earn 1 Fuel Point for every Rs. 150 spent.
