Application Status Check Process Step by Step.
Citibank Credit Card Applications Now Handled by Axis Bank
As of 15 July 2024, Axis Bank has officially taken over Citibank's consumer banking business, which includes all Citibank credit cards, loans and retail banking services.
So, if you applied for a Citibank credit card before that date or already hold one, your account is now being managed by Axis Bank.
On 1 March 2023, Citi India transferred ownership of its consumer banking division to Axis Bank. Citi-branded credit card customers can still use their existing credit cards with minimal disruption, while Axis Bank works on taking over all related operations.
It's okay if you have questions about your application. If you are trying to check the status of your Citibank credit card application, especially if it was made before 15 July 2024, then you are in the right place.
In this guide, we have everything you need to know about tracking old applications, applying for new credit cards, and understanding what's changed.
Instructions for Checking the Status of Past Citibank Applications
Your credit card application is safe. If you applied for a Citi credit card before 15 July 2024, your application has now been transferred to Axis Bank. However, you do not have to worry. You can still easily track your application with the information you provided during the application process.
Just follow these simple steps:
- Step 1: Visit Axis Bank's official website.
- Step 2: Look for a section related to credit cards.
- Step 3: Locate the option that says "Track Your Credit Card Application".
- Step 4: Fill in the required details like your application reference number or the mobile number you used during the application.
- Step 5: Submit the information, and you will see the current status of your credit card application.
If you cannot find the status online or if the application status isn't updating, you can call Axis Bank’s customer support. Someone will verify your details and provide you with an update or help you proceed.
Information for New Credit Card Applications
Now that the transition is complete, Axis Bank will exclusively process any and all new credit card applications. Even if you're still using your Citi-branded card, all new cards will come under Axis Bank branding in the future.
For existing Citibank customers, Axis Bank has introduced similar cards with similar or improved benefits. Here's a look at some of the popular Citi credit cards that have transitioned:
- Citi Rewards Credit Card → Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card
- IndianOil Citi Credit Card → IndianOil Axis Bank Premium Credit Card
- Citi PremierMiles Credit Card → Axis Bank Horizon Credit Card
- First Citizen Citi Credit Card → Axis Bank Shoppers Stop Credit Card
- Citi Cashback Credit Card → Axis Bank Cashback Credit Card
- IKEA Family Credit Card by Citi → IKEA Family Credit Card by Axis Bank
- CitiBusiness Credit Card → Axis Bank REWARDS Credit Card
- IndianOil CitiBusiness Credit Card → INDIANOIL BANK AXIS PREMIUM Credit Card
- Citi Prestige Credit Card → Upgraded benefits under Axis Bank with EDGE Miles
After the transition, all of Citibank's credit cards are being replaced with Axis Bank credit cards. In the initial stages, you could still use your old Citibank credit card until your new Axis Bank credit card gets delivered to your doorstep.
The new cards offer more cashback, better points through Axis EDGE REWARDS, free airport lounge access and extra discounts on food and shopping. Nothing changes with your card number, limit or billing. So, you can keep using your credit card as usual without any problems.
Despite the change in ownership, many things have remained the same to make the transition from Citibank to Axis Bank as smooth as possible for customers.
If you are a Citibank credit card holder, you need not worry about any changes in the credit card number, CVV, expiry or credit card limit. Even your billing cycle, annual fees and the statement date are going to remain the same.
You can still redeem your reward points, cashback and rewards as before. And after the transition, you can start enjoying the benefits offered by Axis Bank as well, which include complimentary lounge access, higher cashback percentage, discounts at top restaurants via EazyDiner, etc.
So, if you applied for a Citibank credit card or already have one, Axis Bank now takes care of your account, and your benefits continue (sometimes with upgrades). You can apply, track, and manage your credit cards just as easily through Axis Bank’s platform as before.
