Shoonya Demat Account Opening Process Step by Step.

Step 1: Install and Start Registration

  • Open the Shoonya app on your phone.
  • Tap on “Register Now.”
  • Enter your mobile number → Enter the OTP received to verify.
  • Enter your email ID → Enter the OTP sent to your email.

Step 2: Fill in Personal Details

  • Enter personal information:
    • Marital status
    • Father’s / Spouse’s / Mother’s name
  • Confirm that you're an Indian citizen.

Step 3: Provide Financial Details

  • Add:
    • Occupation
    • Annual income
    • Trading experience
  • Accept the declaration to continue.

Step 4: DigiLocker Verification

  • Complete DigiLocker verification.
  • Details like PAN and Aadhaar will be autofetched.
  • Enter Aadhaar OTP and Digilocker PIN to allow document access.

Step 5: Selfie & Signature

  • Take a selfie using the app as instructed.

  • Draw your signature on the screen.

Step 6: Select Trading Segments

  • Choose the segments you want:
    • Equity
    • Mutual Funds
    • Derivatives (F&O)
    • Commodities

Step 7: Bank Account Verification

Choose one of the following:

  • Verify via UPI (PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay, etc.) – ?1 will be debited and refunded.
  • Enter bank details manually
  • Upload a cancelled cheque

Step 8: Nominee Addition (Optional)

  • You can add a nominee now or click “Skip” and add later.
  • If you skip, confirm that you wish to continue without a nominee.

Step 9: Aadhaar eSign

  • Enter your Aadhaar number
  • Accept terms & conditions
  • Enter the OTP received to complete eSign

Step 10: Activate Derivatives (Optional)

To activate F&O segments, submit income proof:

  • 6-month bank statement
  • ITR copy
  • Net worth certificate

You can:

  • Upload manually
  • Or use the account aggregator method to fetch the bank statement via OTP.

Step 11: Final Submission

  • Accept the consent form
  • All documents are submitted and will be reviewed.

Step 12: Account Activation

Your Demat and trading account will be activated within a few hours after verification.

Getting started with Shoonya is quick, easy, and 100% digital.

Here’s what you need:

1. PAN Card & Aadhaar Card details
Just keep your PAN and Aadhaar information handy. No need for physical document submission.

2. Aadhaar-linked Mobile Number
To complete the eSign process, you’ll receive an OTP on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
If your number isn’t linked, please visit the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update it.

3. Selfie Upload
You’ll be required to upload a clear selfie for identity verification during the process.

5. Digital eSign
Your application will be signed digitally via Aadhaar OTP-based eSign. No need to upload Just draw your signature on your Phone Screen.

4. Bank Account Verification
Choose any one of the following options to link your bank account:

  • Verify via UPI (PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay, etc.)
    A small amount (Rs. 1) will be debited and refunded for verification.

  • Enter bank details manually
    You’ll need to input your account number, IFSC, and other relevant details.

  • Upload a cancelled cheque
    Ensure the cheque has your name printed along with account number, IFSC, and MICR code.

6. Income Proof (only if you want to trade in F&O, Currency, or Commodities)
You can submit any one of the following Digitally:

  • Latest 6-month bank statement (can be fetched automatically through OTP verification)
  • Salary slip
  • Form-16
  • Networth certificate from a CA
  • Income Tax Return Acknowledgment

Note: Only individual accounts can be opened online.
